Roots, the Tea Maker and the Journey

Our journey began with a simple yet profound goal: to share our passion for Ceylon tea and the rich, authentic flavours and aromas of Sri Lanka with the world. As a start-up tea brand in Berlin’s artisanal consumables market, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring the best of Sri Lanka’s tea culture to our customers. 

Born into a family of entrepreneurs in the Sri Lankan tea industry, Arunn is the third-generation and Swarra Tea’s Founder and Master Tea Maker.

Growing up in a family business environment ranging from engineering and tea factory machinery, tea cultivation, manufacture and exports, he has spent several years working ground-level up in small tea plantations, tea factories, blending and tasting laboratories.

With nearly three decades traveling the world, living on four continents, and studying tea from agricultural and cultural perspectives, Arunn is passionately committed to the art of tea-making. Every blend has a personal story behind it; inspired by experiences, places and people. All of Swarra’s blends are personally curated and handcrafted by the tea- maker.
